I caught the recent www.smoothchicago.com sponsored concert at the DuSable Museum. This intimate setting featured smooth and hot comtemporary jazz - especially by young lion, Eric Darius who blew the audience away with veteran smooth jazz trumpeter, Rick Braun, holding his own as the featured artist. Local drummer and musical director, Khari Parker and his band laid down the tracks for both headliners with a groove that seemed impossible given a brief pre-show rehearsal....pro's everyone!! Surprise guest, Shilts, saxman formerly of Down to the Bone, brought in his special "stepping" groove to the proceedings rounding out the concert.
